Reclaim

Vision 21's community furniture reuse scheme

Reclaim is a community enterprise that redistributes good quality household items, including furniture and electrical items (i.e. fridges/freezers/washing machines/tvs etc, etc), to people on low incomes in the Cheltenham area. (also home of Community Repaint)

Good for the community

Residents on limited incomes are able to buy quality furniture and white goods.

Reclaim also provides volunteer opportunities so that individuals are able to gain experience that will help them into more formal employment in the future. With day-to-day support and guidance, volunteers are able to develop skills and confidence in the work place to bring long-term benefit to their lives.

Good for the local economy

Redistribution of household furniture gives households on limited incomes the opportunity to cost-effectively furnish their house. Reuse reduces the cost of waste disposal in the local area whilst volunteering opportunities provide a cost-effective way of improving and developing skills.

Good for the quality of life

Reclaim redistributes household goods that would otherwise be sent to landfill sites - this reduced both the visual impact of landfills and the pollution that accompanies them, increasing quality of life for the community.

Efficient reuse of also goods reduces the need for more raw materials and energy used to make new products, helping preserve precious resources.

How you can help

How do I buy household goods?

Please call our switchboard between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, on 01242 228823 to enquire about stock.

Or visit our warehouse at 25b Lansdown Industrial Estate, Cheltenham (near the train station) open Tuesday to Friday 12 noon to 4pm. Alternatively, you could ask for a referral from your social worker or health visitor.

How do I donate household goods?

To donate household goods, please call our switchboard on 01242 228823 The switchboard is staffed between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday or email us at reclaim@vision21.org.uk. (please include your address, telephone number and details of the goods you wish to donate)

What household goods can I donate?

All donated items must be clean and in good condition. Unfortunately we cannot accept gas appliances, dishwashers. Sofas, arm chairs and mattresses must have a fire regulations certificate attached.

You can also donate and buy paint through our paint reuse scheme, Repaint. Click here for more details on Repaint.

There is no charge for our collections, but a financial donation would be gratefully received and allow us to continue to help those in need in Cheltenham.

Become a volunteer

Reclaim's volunteering opportunities offer a good chance to gain skills, experience, and confidence in a welcoming environment. We currently have around 30 regular volunteers helping to run Reclaim, so it is also a great opportunity to get to know new people and make friends. To get involved and to become a volunteer call Rebecca at the Vision 21 office (St Georges Place, Cheltenham) on 01242 224321 or email: office@vision21.org.uk
